Paul Pierce calls 'game' on buzzer-beating shot over Hawks

At this rate, a statue will be built of Paul Pierce in Washington.

While the Wizards built up a big lead against the Hawks in Game 3, they found themselves in a tightly contested game down the stretch. But with the game knotted at 101-101 in the weaning seconds, Paul Pierce worked his magic.

Following a screen, Pierce found himself with the ball isolated at the top of the key. Even with three Hawks closing out on him, he created just enough space off of a step-back to launch a shot and kiss it off glass.

Oh, and he called game by the way, unlike Derrick Rose.

The Wizards now lead 2-1 in the series.

Raiders sign talented but troubled running back Michael Dyer

The Raiders have signed well-traveled running back Michael Dyer, the team announced Monday evening. The move was first reported by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. The 24-year-old Dyer was invited to the NFL Scouting Combine despite his troubled past. Kris Bryant hits first career home run, returns to empty dugout

Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant entered Saturday's game against the Brewers batting .278 with a .422 OBP and 14 RBIs in just 20 career games — a solid debut for the much-hyped rookie. But he had yet to hit the big one: the first career home run. Now, the wait is over. MORE: Harper hits walk-off, gets showered in chocolate | Pirates turn historic triple play Bryant came to bat in the bottom of the third inning against the Brewers, his team down 2-0, and proceeded to give the Cubs a lead with a three-run shot to left-center. The rookie clearly struggled to contain a smile as he smugly rounded the bases. Even in Milwaukee, a strong contingent of Cubs fans stood and cheered the milestone. But his teammates, well, they were a little less vocal in their celebration of Bryant's big moment. In fact, they weren't even visible.  Luckily, the Cubs' players returned to finish the game. A Bryant boycott did not ensue. And the rookie got his due after a dose of tough love. Welcome to...

Tristan Thompson calls Derrick Rose's buzzer-beater a 'lucky shot'

Cavs forward Tristan Thompson took Cleveland's Game 3 loss hard after he played great defense on Derrick Rose's game-winning shot. Thompson switched on to Rose after Iman Shumpert was screened by Taj Gibson. Rose pulled up a few feet behind the 3-point line to launch a shot over the outstretched right hand of Thompson, and the ball banked in to give the Bulls a 2-1 series lead. "It wasn't like (Rose) just walked in and took a three. That's all you can really ask for. It was a lucky shot. He hit it off the glass. It's tough." This wasn't the first time this season a buzzer-beater has been made over Thompson. On Nov. 5, Jazz forward Gordon Hayward hit a jumper as time expired to give Utah a 102-100 victory over the Cavs. "Same one (as the Utah shot), but obviously it's on a bigger stag...
