Tampa Bay forward Ryan Callahan underwent an emergency appendectomy Monday and will miss Game 6, the team announced.

Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times has the details:

Callahan has three points (all assists) and leads the team with a plus-7 rating in 12 playoff games. His replacement has not been named.

Smith notes an appendectomy usually requires a lengthy rehab period . . .

. . . but #becauseitstheplayoffs, would anyone be shocked if Callahan considers suiting up for Game 7? Tampa Bay leads the best-of-seven series three games to two after taking a 3-0 lead.
