Floyd Mayweather abuse victim sues boxer, claims defamation

Floyd Mayweather Jr. is being sued for more than $20 million by a woman he beat in front of their children in 2010, according to a lawsuit obtained by Deadspin.

Josie Harris, the mother of three of Mayweather’s children, claims Mayweather defamed her in statements he made in an interview with Katie Couric prior to his May 2 bout against Manny Pacquiao.

Mayweather told Couric he did not assault Harris on the night of Sept. 9, 2010, despite his conviction and a letter from his son, Koraun, detailing how he beat her. He served two months in jail for assaulting Harris.

“Did I kick, stomp and beat someone? No, that didn’t happen. I look in your face and say, ‘No, that didn’t happen.’ Did I restrain a woman that was on drugs? Yes, I did," he told Couric. "So if they say that’s domestic violence, then, you know what? I’m guilty. I’m guilty of restraining someone.”

Harris is also claiming intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress.

Mayweather beat Pacquiao in a 12-round decision on Saturday, a fight for which he is said to have grossed more than $200 million.
